Bargains & Blessings

HOWARD -- Faith Chapel Church in Hunter Run is taking their Bargains and Blessings Community Closet on the road to the Runville United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 25, This will be a back to school event, offering a lot of nice clothing for students to return to school wearing. Clothing is available in all sizes, from infants to 3X. Shoes and accessories are also offered. The cost is just $5 for a bag full of items. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Bargains and Blessings is an outreach of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, serving the Beech Creek, Blanchard, Howard and surrounding areas. For more info on these events at Faith Chapel, follow the church at their Facebook page, faithchapelumc.

Bargains and Blessings next Back to School Clothing Event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Friendship Community Center, 127 Main St., Beech Creek.

Ice Cream Social

BOONEVILLE -- The Nittany/Sugar Valley United Methodist Charge will be holding their annual Ice Cream Social at the Booneville Campground, Campground Road, Loganton, on Saturday, July 25, from 4-7 p.m. Various flavors of homemade ice cream and a variety of homemade pies will be available. Hot sausage sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase. Join us for an evening of great food and fellowship!

Free Concert

ANTES FORT -- Jersey Shore Assembly of God will present Janet Paschal in concert on Sunday, July 26, at 6 p.m. Janet is a singer/songwriter, author, an inspirational speaker and a Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee. She has performed with Bill Gaither, Jimmy Swaggart and more!

All are invited to the concert at the church at 172 Antes Fort Main St., Antes Fort.

Summer Concerts

LAMAR -- Lamar Lighthouse Camp will be having their Summer Concert Series each Sunday evening through Sept. 27. All of the concerts begin at 6 p.m. and are free, with a love offering taken during the service.

The Hyssongs and Divinity Trio will be sharing the stage on July 26.

Aug. 2 will feature The Miller's, followed by Avenue. On Aug. 16 Chosen 4:13 will take the stage, followed by New Journey and on Aug. 30 the Silers will be entertaining.

Pathway News

MCELHATTAN -- Pathway to Christ Church has Bible Study every Tuesday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the social hall at Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan. Everyone is welcome to join us to study the word and share good fellowship together.

On Sunday, July 26, you're invited to an outside worship service at 10 a.m. at the church. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the service and the good time of fellowship afterwards.

Pathway is holding a Yard and Bake Sale at the church on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The baked goods will be priced, but the yard sale items can be yours for a cash donation of your choosing. Proceeds from the sale will be used towards the church's outreach programs to help others in our community.

The church is partnering with Wayne Township in celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Independence. Wayne Township and the church will be offering 3D wooden 250th Anniversary ornaments for $7 each or 2/$12.

Pathway to Christ Church invites you to be a volunteer with their congregation members at the Food Bank in Williamsport on Aug. 20. Carpooling is available from the church parking lot, leaving at 4:15 p.m. The Williamsport Food Bank distribution is held on the third Thursday of each month and the church always helps there. Last month the congregation demonstrated awesome teamwork when they helped to pack 280 boxes to be given to families in need.

Blood Drives

Local churches will be hosting blood drives over the next several weeks. Blood donors of all types are invited to participate. To find a blood drive being held near you visit the American Red Cross website.

Blood drives will be held on the following dates:

Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Wingate Faith Church, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte.

Aug. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Flemington First Church of Christ, Canal St., Mill Hall.

St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding a Red Cross Blood Drive, at the church, on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The drive will be between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, or you may schedule an appointment on the Red Cross website at www.redcrossblood.org. St. Luke's will be serving its world famous root beer floats.

St. Paul Food Pantry

MILL HALL -- St. Paul Food Pantry, 6220 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, (1 mile north of the I-80 interchange on Route 64), is open the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. No documentation is required. You may call the church at 570-748-7932 or 570-726-7460. People may call these numbers at any time for any type of assistance they may need.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

MILL HALL -- The Prayer Shawl Ministry needleworkers will be entering some of their beautifully crafted items into the Clinton County Fair. Be sure to stop by and see our work. We're hoping to win a few ribbons and prize money that can be used towards the purchase of more yarn. Last year we had seven ladies who entered items, and this year we're expecting more entries.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at noon, at the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall. A light lunch is always provided for those who attend the meeting.

Anyone who would like to learn to crochet or knit is invited to join us for our meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at noon and our skilled needleworkers will be glad to coach and encourage you in your learning process. If you already know how to work with yarn and want to become a needleworker with us, come to our next meeting.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry relies on monetary donations as well as yarn donations. Whether it be new skeins of yarn or partially used skeins, we can use it as long as it is clean and smoke-free. Yarn donations can be left under the ramp at the rear of the building or by calling Pastor Susan at the church office at 570-726-4112.

Bible Study

LOCK HAVEN -- God's Eternal Life Church, 30 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, is holding weekly Bible studies each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The topic will be Thru the Bible Word for Word. We're up to the book of Romans now, and will be learning about the meaning of the New Covenant. Please feel free to join our Bible Studies.

Cookbook Sale

BEECH CREEK -- Laurel Run Church, 2899 Laurel Run Road, Beech Creek, has created a beautiful family cookbook with many shared and loved recipes. Food distribution

BELLEFONTE -- Food distribution will be on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4-6 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, 216 McAllister St., Bellefonte. There aren't any income guidelines but a few questions are asked for those attending for the first time. For more info on these food distributions, call Leilani "Loni" at 814-548-7835.

Summer Outdoor Concerts Series

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark Lutheran Church's Summer Outdoor Concert series draws to a close on Friday, Aug. 14, when Fishers of Men will perform. This is the first time the group has played at St. Mark's and we're expecting a great concert experience for both the group and those attending.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with food and the fire pit started to roast hot dogs, Smores and more. Music begins at 6:30 p.m. under the pavilion at St. Mark, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard. You are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket, food to share if you like and are able, and to just enjoy some music and time with those of our community.

If there is rain, the concert will be moved indoors.
