The softball/baseball season has finally begun!
The varsity baseball team has had a strong start to their season being undefeated for the first couple of games. They have had to postpone a couple games due to the bipolar spring weather, but those games will be made up eventually. As of now the boys record is currently 5-1. A great record for the start of the season nonetheless.
The varsity softball team is also off to a strong start! Their record is was sitting at 8-1. However they are 8-0 in their conference.
Still in the start of the season, both teams have plenty of time to work on the skills that need improvement. The baseball team has been working on both their offensive and defensive skills.
"Nothing too special, just getting lots of repetitions so that we are prepared when it comes time for our next game." said varsity player Baylen Corter.
They are, "working hard on doing the little things and focusing on our weaknesses to make them strengths, so we can limit our mistakes in games," says Cru Stover.
The softball team is focusing more on their offense lately.
Hitting has been one of the weaker points lately, so they are working hard to try and improve that part of their game.
"I think we should continue to work on base running along with hitting, but there is always room for improvement," says Audrey Walker.
Already in the season the teams have started to see improvements. Varsity baseball player Nate Helms says that, "I have seen improvements in the team, we keep getting better and better but we definitely haven't been playing to our full capacity and we know it."
Showing that their hard work has been paying off, but they are not yet done putting the work in.
They believe they have more to bring to the table, and hopefully they will be able to do so. By the end of the season the team hopes to be able to take the district championship, and go on yet another state run like they managed to do last year! A big goal for the Central Mountain baseball team, but a good one at that.
The softball team has also seen some improvement since the beginning of the season. They have made improvement to their fielding, and even some to their approach at the plate. Their goal is to be able to come home with the district championship as well.
Goals I hope both the softball and baseball teams will be able to accomplish this year.
As the season continues for both these teams I believe we will see just what they have to show. Through all their hard work also comes fun though.
As Braylen Corter says, "I'm personally just enjoying playing with my friends. I've grown up playing with a lot of the people around me so getting to continue to play with them at the high

Nate Helms says, "My favorite part about this season is the way we all get along, we are all like brothers and pick each other up and help each other if needed."
The softball team is enjoying playing the game with the rest of the girls on the team. Audrey Walker says, "I believe that our bonds are really strong with each other considering we have played together for a long time now."
In the next couple of weeks I hope to see both teams continue to improve. Their hard work and strong bonds set them up to be able to achieve anything they put their minds to.
Hopefully by the end of the season both teams will be able to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves. Most importantly though, I hope they can all have fun this season with their friends.
If you see any of the softball or baseball players be sure to wish them good luck on their 2022 season!
