With only a little under a month of school left, summer is approaching sooner than we think. Lots of exciting things are happening with the students and teachers in the building. I recently spoke to Mr. Cooper about how his summer usually goes, "Wherever we're playing baseball is our vacation, one summer was Rhode Island, one summer was Massachusetts." "I'm very excited for this program." Senior Clayton Foster states. Clayton will be participating in Pennsylvania State University's leap Program over the summer to get a head start on his general education credits.
A lot of the senior class is preparing for graduation and some are even going on a trip called senior week. Senior week takes place in Ocean City, Maryland where seniors and their friends go down about one week after graduating to make memories with people before they possibly going their separate ways forever. Seniors normally go go-karting, mini golfing, and to the H20 building. Make sure if you see any senior going you wish them safe travels!
With our seniors off on vacation that leaves one thing, what will the underclassmen do? There are a bunch of fun places you can go to hang with friends, look at views, and swim. Right in Lock Haven there is the City Beach which is open from 12 p.m. to 8pm, where you can go swimming or hang by the water at the river. If you're looking for a bit more excitement, you can take a trip to Knoebels in Elysburg. Knoebels is home to "2021's best wooden roller coaster" known as The Phoenix. For a more natural view, take a drive up to Renovo to Hyner View State Park where you can have a picnic and watch the view.
Senior Ashlyn Litz told us about how her and her family go to Florida every couple of years. "We normally go down to Universal and Disney which is always really fun. I also really want to see an alligator when I'm down there." Other places that people are going which are a little closer to home are Ocean City Maryland, Wildwood New Jersey, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Some students are also planning on working as well. Junior, Caden Sample plans on working over the summer into the new school year at his current job at Dunkin'. "Dunkin' is very busy in the summer so I wanted to help out with the summer rush." Be sure to stop by over the summer to get a refreshing drink!
All in all, with the school year ending soon, the class of 2022 is preparing to take a big step toward their future. I was able to speak to a couple of our seniors and ask what they're going to miss the most about being in high school. Senior Hannah Brown states "I'm really going to miss talking to my favorite teachers like Mr. Caprio and Mr. Nardi". Senior Kylee Smith says, "I'll definitely miss seeing my friends everyday and getting to see my favorite teachers. I like attending the events the school throws. Also seeing everyone that I don't know". The final countdown is approaching for the amazing 2021-2022 school year and the beginning of hopefully, productive summer.
