Various clubs, groups take part in recent CMHS carnival

PHOTO PROVIDED This is a picture taken at the CMHS Malinak stadium where the carnival was held.

On April 13, 2022, Central Mountain High School put together their own school carnival. The school clubs each set up their own type of vendor along the side of the stadium. Yearbook club put up signs advertising the schools 2022 yearbooks that they’ll be selling until May 31st for 75 dollars. Culinary club sold some of their food that the students had made. There were around 10-15 vendors in total. On the inside of the stadium at the football field there were different games like corn hole, kickball and some other kids running around making their own games up. Some of the vendors had mini-games set up like ring toss and giant cup pong.

I decided to ask some students what their favorite part or event from the carnival was. Derek Lucas said, “My favorite part was getting to spend time with my friends and drinking freshly squeezed lemonade.” Another student I asked was Bronson Brungard and he said his favorite part of it was, “hanging out with my friends and the variety of foods there were.” The last student I asked was Caden Sample and he told me his favorite thing about it was, “getting to spend sometime outside in the sun.” A lot of students enjoy when the school takes the time to do things like this for them.

The carnival started at 2 p.m. and before it started there was supposed to be a mental health walk that was put together by two students, Ashton Peters and Lela Vanartsdalen. Each grade went individually, they were supposed to start at the bus loop and walk around the entire school property and finish at the stadium entrance to start the carnival. The length of the walk was 16 minutes and 30 seconds. Unfortunately, about 15 minutes before this was supposed to take place it started storming and we ran out of time so we could only do the carnival. This walk was their senior project to try and bring awareness to suicide and mental health since we have all been affected by it this school year. Luckily, there were still 25 days of school left so the walk was postponed for a day in May. The school doesn’t have a definite set date yet but they’re hoping for a good outcome for these two.

Starting at $3.69/week.
