The Lock Haven Fire Department released the following statement on their Facebook page:
“On September 10th, 2020 at approximately 2045 hours the Lock Haven Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire at the Lock Haven/ UPMC Hospital. Chief 6 arrived on scene first to find a large volume of fire and smoke in the area of the utility building at which time a 2nd alarm was struck. Engine 1, Tower 2, Ladder 2, Engine 6, and Squad 6 soon arrived on scene to begin suppression operations. The LHFD was assisted on scene from multiple departments in Clinton County, Lycoming County, and Centre County. Due to the nature of the material that was burning and its location in a below grade access tunnel, suppression operations were hampered. Lock Haven/ UPMC Hospital was evacuated as a precaution as smoke had migrated into some parts of the main hospital building. At approximately 0300 hours the fire was under control and by 0500 hours all units had cleared the scene.
At this time, Lock Haven/ UPMC Hospital remains closed.”
Further information regarding the fire will be available in Saturday’s edition of The Express.
