Keller, Toomey denounce actions at U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON – 12th Congressional District representative Fred Keller, a republican, has denounced the chaotic protest that erupted at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday afternoon.

Angry supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol aimed at thwarting a peaceful transfer of power, forcing lawmakers to be rushed from the building and interrupting challenges to Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.

“The violence happening at the U.S. Capitol is shameful, completely unacceptable, and un-America. This is not how our Republic should operate and the rioters must be fully prosecuted. God bless our Capitol police and first responders,” Keller posted on social media Wednesday.

Pa. Senator Pat Toomey, a republican, also denounced the actions taking place.

“This is an absolute disgrace. I appreciate the work of the United States Capitol Police under difficult circumstances,” Toomey said. “I am currently safe as are the few members of my staff that are currently at the Capitol complex.”
