Man, 21, dies from gunshot; suspect in custody

LOCKPORT – A 21 year-old Beech Creek man is dead and another another man is in jail.

Jakob Lee Haines died of a single gunshot wound at a private residence at 330 Brewery Hill Road in Woodward Township, Clinton County, on Friday night.

State police from Troop F in Montoursville said a known suspect was taken into custody at the scene “and will be charged with criminal homicide.”

They had not identified the suspect as of Saturday morning but said he awaited arraignment from the Clinton County Correctional Facility on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Friday, but police released no further information other than to say no other suspects were at large and there was “no danger to the public.”
