LOCK HAVEN – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Clinton, Centre and surrounding counties.
“Heavy snow with rates greater than 1 inch per hour possible” starting overnight into much of Wednesday, forecasters said.
Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible.
Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.
The storm is forecast to approach our area overnight tonight and last through Wednesday evening.
“Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute,” forecasters said.
“Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility will make travel very difficult. Gusty winds and heavy wet snow may result in downed trees and power outages,” they warned. “Snow will transition to mixed precipitation during the afternoon and evening.”
Residents are asked to be alert Wednesday morning for possible school delays and closures, along with government offices.
It’s also possible the state will issue travel restrictions on state highways.
