KCSD sets public meeting on school safety

MILL HALL – The Keystone Central School Board has schedule its first public meeting to address school safety in the wake of incidents at school where students have felt threatened and, in one reported case, where a student was attacked.
The first public meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, March 22, at the Central Mountain High School auditorium.
“In the public announcement regarding this meeting we are asking members of the public to contact the board secretary to sign-up to speak about their ideas,” said school board President David Dietrich.
“The scope of the meeting is narrow,” Dietrich said. “It is a continuation of our ongoing efforts to address public concern regarding safety. It is our first public meeting on this topic.”
“This meeting is not specifically related to any particular safety related incidents. Examples of such will not be covered at this meeting,” he emphasized.
“This meeting is an opportunity for the board to share some short-term ideas that we are taking a serious look at implementing. And to ask the public for their ideas that we can potentially take into consideration. These would be ideas that we could, potentially, take action on within the next month or so to enhance our existing safety related programs and policies,” he said, concluding, “Future meetings on this topic will be scheduled as needed pending the outcome of this first meeting.”
