LOCK HAVEN — More than 65 area organizations will benefit from over $553,000 in grants, designated funds and scholarships awarded by the Clinton County Community Foundation for 2024.
All told, 70 organizations and municipalities requested a total of $895,743 — far exceeding the funds available.
Of the $553,757 awarded, $13,430 goes to scholarships to be decided this spring, and $176,570 in previously committed to various causes.
New Board President Dennis Trout chaired the hours-long meeting at Ross Library, during which board members assessed every application.
“As is normally the case there are always more requests for funds than there are funds available, which makes the tasks of deciding who gets money and how much very challenging,” said Trout.
Recipients will receive an agreement letter that must be signed before any funds are disbursed, Trout added.
Importantly, the board also decided to move up the deadline for grant applications to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024. That’s the same date as the deadline for grant recipients to report how they spent their 2024 funds. Grants will still be accepted starting in mid-October — for this year that is Oct. 15.
Also, the board approved its 2024 meetings as follows: April 23, Aug. 20, Dec. 22, and set its new year annual meeting for Jan. 22, 2025.
