The National Weather Service in State College has upgraded the prior Winter Storm Watch for the region for Monday night through Tuesday afternoon to a Winter Storm Warning, in accordance with increased likelihood of significant snowfall totals, reaching 6-9 inches.
NWS is expecting snow to begin Monday evening around 6 p.m., possibly as rain, and continue through around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
One of the most significant dangers with this storm is expected to be very heavy snowfall rates -- at times reaching in excess of 1-2 inches per hour, which may cause white-out conditions.
The warning area includes all of Clinton, Lycoming, Clearfield and Tioga counties, as well as northern Centre.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel as significant winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous.
