The Bellefonte Area Board of School Directors have announced they have concluded their superintendent selection process.
The four month-long selection process, guided by DiRocco Education Consulting, LLC, was intended to be thorough and deliberate. Key stakeholder groups were given the opportunity to offer their opinions, concerns and guidance.
The process began in late November with a call for staff and community to weigh in on the qualities desired for Bellefonte's next superintendent. From there, the Board developed a leadership profile before advertising across local, state, and national educational channels. Meetings to reduce the pool of seventeen qualified applicants to five were held, and subsequent interviews produced three highly qualified candidates. Those candidates were then invited to a second round of interviews and a meet and greet with school personnel and community members.
Consultants provided a summary of the input from administrators, support and professional staff, and community members to aid in the deliberation process.
A tentative contract was reached after negotiations between Board leadership and the candidate.
A motion recommending approval of the next Superintendent will appear on the agenda for Board approval at tonight's public meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.
The Bellefonte Area Board of School Directors stated in a release they would "like to sincerely thank all stakeholders for their input and patience during this important process. We are looking forward to officially announcing and welcoming our new superintendent."
