Stoltzfus Butcher Shop closed until further notice following devastating fire

SALONA -- Dozens of firefighters were called to East End Mountain Road early Wednesday morning for a fire at Stoltzfus Butcher Shop. As crews battled the blaze beginning around 1 a.m., the fire was upgraded from a 2nd alarm to a 3rd alarm, calling in fire stations from Centre and Lycoming counties to assist. Following the fire being placed under control, Stoltzfus Butcher Shop let its customers know the business -- which provides butcher services along with a variety of other goods at its store -- would be closed "until further notice."
"Please pass the word along, we are completely closed until further notice. The assumption at this time is that it is a total loss," the post to social media said. "Updates and progress will be posted. Be safe everyone."
The business, owned by Mark Stoltzfus, has been in operation since 1998. The facility which burned early Thursday morning had opened in 2017.
