A slow-moving severe thunderstorm passed through Lock Haven Thursday night, causing headaches for many. Emergency crews worked tireless for hours clearing downed trees and power lines, as well as responding to multiple calls of entrapment as vehicles got stuck in rapidly-rising floodwaters throughout Lock Haven, Flemington and Mill Hall.

Hotspots included the intersection of Bellefonte Ave. and Commerce St., with waters stretching back near McDonald’s and the Geisinger Health Clinic on Spring St.; Canal St., in Flemington, where an early scanner call reported people trapped in their house by rising waters; and Vesper and Water Streets, where flash floods forced emergency responders to close sections of the road.

Reports also came in regarding flooding near the Bald Eagle Township Building, as well as from Castanea.
