Coroner identifies woman who perished in Castanea fire; MH police ask public for further information about incident

CASTANEA — Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna released a statement identifying the individual who perished in a trailer fire on Monday afternoon in Castanea Township.

The fire took place around noon on Oct. 21 at 200 E. Keller St., Lot 15, and saw the entire structure engulfed in flames when emergency crews responded.

It was previously reported one person and two pets perished in the fire.

“I can confirm that Mrs. Barbara Hummer was pronounced dead at the scene by myself,” Hanna released Tuesday. “It was determined that Mrs. Hummer died as a result of the trailer fire.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Mill Hall Borough Police and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Investigators.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the trailer when the fire began to call the department at 570-726-4597 or 570-748-2936.
