Troopers serving warrant involved in vehicle chase, shooting Tuesday night

BEECH CREEK — Delivery of a felony warrant led to shots fired in both Bald Eagle Township and Beech Creek Borough on Tuesday night.

According to a release from state police at Lamar, troopers were serving a felony warrant on Aug. 19 at about 8:50 p.m. to an individual in the 2000 Block of Eagle Valley Road, Bald Eagle Township when the man fired a round towards them.

The man, whose name was not released as of Wednesday morning, got into his vehicle and fled along state Route 150 towards Beech Creek Borough, the release said.

After entering the borough, he pulled into a parking spot at Lykens Market along Main Street and began to fire a round at troopers, the release said.

“After a brief gun fire exchange, the individual was taken into custody without further incident,” the release said. “The individual suffered one non-life-threatening injury. All law enforcement and bystanders were unharmed.”

The release noted that, per regulations, all troopers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave as an investigation into the incident continues.

No further information was made available as of Wednesday morning.
