LH woman arrested after directing NY man to commit sex acts with infant

A Lock Haven woman was arrested for allegedly telling a New York man to perform sex acts involving an infant and receiving child sex abuse material.

Beth Sairs, otherwise known as Beth Young, 41, was arrested by the United States Attorney Jay Clayton, of the Southern District of New York, along with Corey Matthews, 38, of Kent, N.Y. for separate charges related to sexual exploitation of an infant and the receipt and distribution of child pornography.

According to a release from Clayton’s office issued this week, Matthews was arrested on May 14 and Saiers was indicted on April 29.

The release noted Matthews was taken into federal custody on Thursday and went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew E. Krause in White Plains, N.Y. before being detained.

Sairs was arrested in Lock Haven on April 23 in Lock Haven and was indicted by a grand jury in New York on April 29.

“The charges here — sexual exploitation of an infant — allege horrific conduct,” said Clayton. “Every New Yorker wants children protected from life-scarring conduct. We know our community wants this conduct investigated and, as appropriate, charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The women and men of this Office are dedicated to that mission.”

The following information is laid out in charging documents regarding Saiers and Matthews’s crimes:

Around April 26, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Matthew’s residence in Putnam County, N.Y. where his cellphone was seized.

A search of the phone revealed social media chats between Matthews and Saiers on April 14.

In the course of the conversation, Matthews sent an image of an infant to Saiers who responded “put your d*** in its face.” Matthews then sent an image of a man’s erect penis in the foreground. He then asked “now what” and Saiers responded, “take a pic of my pedo d*** in front of the baby’s face.”

Following this, Matthews sent a series of explicit photos and videos of the infant to Saiers who commented on the images and directed Matthews to engage in sexual acts involving the victim.

Matthews was arrested about April 16 in Kent, N.Y. and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Around April 19, following the discovery of the photos and videos depicting the sexual abuse of the infanct, additional charges were added including, among others, predatory sexual assault against a child and rape in the first degree.

On April 23, Saiers was arrested in Lock Haven based on a complaint filed on April 21 in the Southern District of New York. She was detained pending removal to New York and was then indicted on April 29 by a grand jury for sexual exploitation of a child and receipt and distribution of child pornography.
