Missing man located after extensive search effort in Mill Hall

MILL HALL – After an extensive search involving emergency responders and community members, missing 71-year-old George Schiele was located Thursday afternoon in Mill Hall Borough.

The discovery came at approximately 2:09 p.m. near Floating Feathers Brewing Company, 380 Main St., according to emergency dispatch reports. Rescue officials established command at the scene shortly after 2:11 p.m.

The development came just hours after Schiele’s family shared an emotional update on social media, expressing growing concern as the search stretched beyond 24 hours.

“Without his medication, we fear this may now be a recovery effort,” a family member wrote Thursday morning. “Thank you to his community, and thank you to all of the first responders who are out there with my family. Let’s bring him home.”

Initial dispatch reports from the scene indicated the patient was alert and talking when located. Specialized rescue resources were temporarily held while responders assessed the situation and provided medical care.

Schiele, who has dementia, had been the subject of a widespread search effort after being reported missing from the Flemington area. The search prompted an outpouring of support from residents who shared information, checked properties, and assisted authorities in the effort to bring him home.
