Carol F. Baker, 84, formerly of Lewisburg, Milton, and Jersey Shore, passed away on March 30, 2020 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. Born in Avis on July 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Fay E. (McCullough) Ergott. She was married on May 15, 1955 to William L. Baker who preceded her in death on March 17, 2014.
Carol graduated from Jersey Shore High School and attended Mansfield University and Lycoming College. She worked as an accountant and was a genealogist historian. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lewisburg and former member or Trinity Lutheran Church in Milton. Carol was a former first chair violin for the Susquehanna Valley Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the Trinity Choir, the Milton Historical Society, the Fort Antes Chapter of DAR, South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, Northumberland County Historical Society, and formerly of the Jersey Shore and Lycoming County Historical Societies. Carol had compiled several history and genealogical books. She was responsible for placing the Jersey Shore downtown area on the National Historic Register and she directed the historic restoration work on the Lycoming College Admissions House. After retirement in 1980, she was involved with conducting courses in genealogical research for the DAR.
She is survived by a son, Steven E. Baker of Linden; two daughters, Karen L. Lucas of Loganton and Katherine F. Baker of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by a brother, Harold L. Ergott, Jr.
A graveside service will be held in Milton Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday April 4. Officiating will be the Rev. William S. Henderson.
