Loretta Mae Quiggle, 96, formerly of Castanea, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing, Lock Haven.
She was born on May 4, 1923 in Farrandsville, the daughter of the late Albert and Maude Kessinger Williams.
On July 26, 1941, Loretta married Richard Floyd Quiggle, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1994.
She retired from A.P. Rinella Wholesale Fruit and Produce after 35 years of service as Manager and Bookkeeper.
Loretta was a devoted member of the Castanea United Methodist Church where she served as Choir Director for many years. She was also a member of the Lock Haven Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her grandson, Richard (Jennifer) Quiggle of Johnsonburg; seven great-grandchildren: Brett (Kayla) Quiggle of Bellefonte, Justin (Jodi) Quiggle of St. Marys, Brianna and Michaela Quiggle of Johnsonburg, Mersaydeez Barto of Muncy, Desiree (Broc Wachter) Barto of Steubenville, OH and Dakota (Joanna Lucas) Barto of Muncy; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Harry Louis Quiggle; her daughter-in-law, Kathryn Quiggle Jones; her five sisters and three brothers; a special friend, George Hurne; a great-great granddaughter, Ellah Wachter and her granddaughter, Jennifer Barto.
Loretta lived life to its fullest. She competitively roller-skated well into her eighties. She also regularly met friends for bingo, cards and lunch into her early nineties. She was a caring person known for doling out back rubs to her care staff. Most importantly, she was a loving grandmother. She adored her whole family and showed it by traveling far and wide for sporting events, preparing all of her grandchildren's favorite foods and by always being present and involved.
A private burial service will be held at Dunnstown Cemetery, Lock Haven on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Faith United Methodist Church and to Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing.
