David G. Closs Sr.

David G. Closs, Sr., 67, of Avis passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Feb. 16, 1953 in Chester he was a son of the late George N. Closs, Sr. and Marie (Lenzi).

David was married on August 13, 1977 to the former Cheryl A. Wilson. They celebrated 43 years of marriage together.

He worked as a police officer in Marcus Hook and Kennett Square for 21 years.

David was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Avis. He was a member of Robbins Run Rod and Gun Club in Haneyville. He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors.

He was a member of Avis Fire Company # 1 and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Surviving are his loving wife; one son David (Mary) Closs, Jr. of Avis; two daughters Valerie (Vincent) Foley of Avis and Angela (Kenneth, Jr.) Bower of Williamsport; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kaelynn, David, III, Blaze and Reece.

Also surviving are three step-grandchildren, Coleen, Kaleb and Lauran, and two step-great granddaughters Cora and Grae, and three brothers, Carl of Kennett Square, Robert of Lynchburg, VA and Greg of Pipersville, PA

He was preceded in death by two brothers Howard and George.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. – noon on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 19 W. Ridge St., Avis, with Pastor Drew Collins officiating.
