Ed Himmelwright, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at his home along Fishing Creek in Mill Hall, PA. He was born in Philadelphia on July 30, 1944. He spent his early years with his parents, LeRoy and Anna (Lewis) Himmelwright, and sister Louise in Meshoppen, Pa.
From a young age, he had an interest in electricity and telephones. He was responsible for stringing the town’s Christmas lights as well as building and operating a small telephone line around Meshoppen. He enjoyed life in his hometown, but after graduation from Elk Lake High School and a short time of service as a Navy Seabee, he began a career as a telephone contractor working for various companies throughout Pennsylvania.
On Aug. 6, 1976 he married Caroline (Sproul) Muthler. They spent many years together at their home along Fishing Creek planting flowerbeds. After Ed’s retirement, the two of them enjoyed working together installing telephone systems at various local businesses and setting up TV towers and antennas.
Those who knew him know he loved to tell stories of his life adventures. Some made you laugh, and nearly all of them showed his love and knowledge of decades in the telephone business.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister and wife.
Surviving is a step-daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Brian Douty of Loganton, Pa.
