Shirley Bittner

Shirley Bittner, 86, of Beech Creek, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on Dec. 19, 1934 in Phillipsburg, Pa. the daughter of the late Maxwell and Wilda McQuillen Smeal.

She was united in marriage to Gerald F. Bittner who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2007.

She was a secretary for Dr. Greenburg where she retired after 20 years.

Shirley was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ where she was involved in many activities in the church. She enjoyed square dancing. She took great pride in being a wife and mother to her family.

She is survived by a son Troy Bittner of Beech Creek; two daughters Diana (Steven) Douty of Salona and Joni Bittner of Beech Creek; a brother Ronald Smeal of Reading; four grandchildren Michael (Bethany) Douty, Lauren (Stephen) Jarrett, Kyle (Ashley) Douty and Rachel Bittner; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death along with her husband by a brother Edwin Smeal.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 5 p.m. at the Blanchard Church of Christ 161 Beach St., Blanchard, Pa. with the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Moldovan officiating.

Friends and family will be received from 3-5 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Blanchard Christian Cemetery at the families convenience.
