Michael R. ‘Bobcat’ Johnson

Michael R. “Bobcat” Johnson, 79, of DuBois, was peacefully ushered into heaven at his home on Nov. 30, 2022.

Born 1943 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Robert Charles and Helen (Shuey) Johnson.

In 1967, Mike married Patricia Fox from Pittsburgh. Together they celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage.

In 1961, Mike graduated from Lock Haven High School, excelling in wrestling. He was undefeated (84-0) throughout his high school career, and became a four-time District, Regional, and PA State Champion.

Mike attended the University of Pittsburgh on a full wrestling scholarship and graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Following graduation, he taught and coached at Wyalusing High School, DuBois Area High School and the DuBois Area Middle School until his retirement in 2004.

Mike was privileged to have coached with several talented individuals. He was known as a sports and hunting enthusiast, always ready to share a story. Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois and most recently attended DuBois Treasure Lake Church.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his son, David Johnson (Bethany Prince); grandsons, Cooper and Bennett Johnson; sisters, Barbara Johnson, Joan (John) Eves, Paula (Tom) Randecker; a brother, Francis (Marilou) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Jann Johnson and Paula Johnson, as well as 16 nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received for a Celebration of Life visitation on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, 1312 Chestnut Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Lake Church, 226 Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA 15801 or to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois.
