Heidi S. Lucas, 51, of Loganton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa., surrounded by loved ones.
Born on Nov. 17, 1971 in Bellefonte, Heidi was the daughter of Danny and Sandra "Sandi" (Simcox) Garverick, of Loganton.
Heidi was a 1990 graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School. Upon graduation, she attended Lock Haven University. Over the years she held positions at Corning, Potter's Lodge, Trucklite and the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School.
In 2013, Heidi started working at the Loganton Post Office, and in 2020 she was promoted to the position of Postmaster, a role that she was perfect for. Growing up in Loganton, Heidi seemed to know almost everyone, and this, combined with her kindness and fun demeanor, made many people visit the post office on a daily basis.
Heidi was a very social person and lit up every room she entered with her warm smile and joyful personality.
She enjoyed going to the beach, bowling, going on cruises, sunbathing and shopping. She was an avid bingo player, and had the best luck, always winning prizes at each event. Heidi was a member of the Sugar Valley Social Club.
One of her favorite places to be was Disney World, where she often traveled to with her family.
Heidi lived each moment of her life with gusto, thoughtfulness and love, building memories for her friends and family to recall. Two of her greatest joys in life were being a mother to her four children, and a grandmother to her grandson Cedric Bower. Heidi and Cedric were only granted five short months together, but Heidi savored every second and wore her title of "Coco," with pride.
Along with her parents and grandson, Heidi is survived by three daughters, Danielle Stringfellow (Cruson Bower), of Loganton, Roslynne Stringfellow (Dylan Strouse), of Loganton and Ali Lucas, of Selinsgrove; a son, Carter Lucas of Middleburg; and one brother, Scott Garverick of Penn Valley. In addition to her human family, Heidi leaves behind her beloved Great Dane, Clark.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Betty Simcox, Mable and Earl Sr. Garverick; and an uncle, Dan Simcox.
The void Heidi leaves behind the post office counter, within her friend circle, in her family, and within the community is deep, and she will never be forgotten.
"As long as the sun shines, the wind blows, the rain falls, you will live on inside us forever."
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family along, with a public Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Heidi's name to the Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Company, 24 W. Anthony St., Loganton, PA 17747.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 East Main St., Loganton, PA.
