Keith Robin Whitman

Keith Robin Whitman, 67, a resident of York, Pa., died April 3, 2023 at his home.

Keith was born Feb. 29, 1956 in Lock Haven, Pa. He was the son of the late Willard (Dean) and Francis (Betty) Whitman.

Keith graduated in 1974 from Lock Haven High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served from 1974 1977.

Keith spent 45 years driving truck which included the Army, McCroy's until their closing, 25 years with Roadway, HR Ewell and R&L Carriers until his retirement in 2021.

His passion for all things mechanical and the fascination for speed began at a very early age. The last several years he spent his time working on his drag car and old muscle cars. Keith could have written the line "I have a need, a need for speed." The other great loves of his life were his beloved Irish Setters.

Keith is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa (Welch); his two sons, Nick Whitman (Vanessa), of York, Pa., and Josh Whitman (Becky), of North Pole, Ala.; a grandson, Colton Whitman, of York; a sister, Cindy Johnstonbaugh (John), of Menges Mills, Pa.; two brothers, Don Whitman (Joanne) and Steve Whitman (Jayne), of York; and a sister-in-law, Cathy Whitman, of Kernersville, N.C.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Gary Whitman, of High Point, N.C.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Keith's funeral. Viewings will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023, and 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market Street, York, PA 17404.

A Celebration of Life service will start at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Warner of the Grace Baptist Church, East Prospect Road, York, Pa.

All are then invited to meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery for interment with full military honors.

This is not how we planned, to be gone so young, with many dreams left undone, but all the words were spoken, and we will love you the rest of our life.
