Robert J. Grossman

Robert J. Grossman, 97, formerly of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully June 30 in Naples, Fla. Bob was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Philipsburg, Pa.

During his time in Lock Haven, Bob was active in many civic organizations, including the Masonic Temple, Elks, Kiwanis, Downtown Merchants, Hospital Board and Piper Labor Relations Board. Bob also owned and operated the family business his father started, “Grossman’s.”

Bob was an Army Veteran, serving in World War II. During his service he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated a concentration camp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Augusta Grossman and Milton M. Grossman; and his brother, Jack.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Cresswell, of Naples, Fla.; a son, Gary Grossman, of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; a grandson, Jeremy Grossman, of Washington DC; and a granddaughter, Amy Grossman, of Muskeegon, Mich.

His ashes will be interred at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Altoona at a date to be determined.
