Norma Arlene Miller

Norma Arlene Miller, 85, of Lamar, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at the Mt. Nittany Medical Center holding the hands of her loving daughters. Norma was born Sept. 5, 1937 in Loganton to Miller Lowell and Delphia Elizabeth Guisewite Stamm.

Norma married the love of her life, Paul Leroy Miller, Jr., on Sept. 15, 1956 in Loganton. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1996.

Norma is a 1955 graduate of Sugar Valley High School and the Williamsport School of Commerce. She worked at Piper Aircraft and Interstate Amesite for a number of years, but her longtime career was with the Keystone Central School District. Norma was a secretary at Mill Hall Elementary, secretary for the special education department at Flemington Special Services and secretary for many superintendents during her career.

Norma was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church, Christian Women, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a volunteer at UPMC Lock Haven Hospital. She enjoyed card games with the girls and bus trips to the casinos. She was a lifelong Pittsburgh and Penn State sports fan.

Norma loved and adored her family most. She spent many years attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities across the country.

She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie (Richard) Powers, of Mill Hall, and Paula (Patrick) Gallagher, of Lewes, Del.; grandchildren, Richard “Lee” (Andi Luke) Powers, of Howard, Patrick Gallagher, of Stuttgart, Germany, Nathaniel (Alyssa) Powers, of Monroeville, Lindsay (Padhraic) O’Malley, of Crosshaven, Ireland, and Micah (Stefani) Powers, of Mill Hall. She is also survived by two special great-grandchildren, Quincy Dawn Powers and Landon Paul Powers; and many nieces and nephews. She also left behind her special furry friend, Chloe.

In addition to her parents, Norma is predeceased by her husband and her sister, Dorothy Stamm Ruhl.

Services for Norma A. Miller will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at 11 a.m., in the Lamar United Methodist Church, 5029 Nittany Valley Drive, Lamar, with Pastor Rick Conklin officiating. Visitation will be held at the Gedon Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, from 5-7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Memorials will be accepted to the Lamar United Methodist Church, 5029 Nittany Valley Drive, Lamar, PA 16848.
