Jean L. Duck, 80, of Mill Hall, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at her home.
Born Feb. 24, 1943 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Dorris Mayes, who died in Jean's early childhood, and Louise and John R. Mayes, Jr.
After graduating from Bald Eagle Nittany High School, she attended Business School.
On June 18, 1966, she married Donald D. Duck, who preceded her in death in 1988.
Jean worked in accounting at Lock Haven Hospital for 27 years before being employed at Lock Haven City Hall until her retirement.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting and gardening. Jean could often be found attending flea markets and loved going on casino trips with her City Hall friends.
Surviving is her fiance of 32 years, Albert Karstetter, of Lock Haven; a brother, John "Bob" (Cindy) Mayes, III, of Mill Hall; a sister, Barbara (Gary) Barner, of Beech Creek; and nephews, John R. (Amanda) Mayes, IV, Adam Mayes, Kevin Barner and Patrick Barner. She also leaves behind her loving cat, Kitty.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating. Private burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
Because of her love for cats, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.
