Franklin Thomas Hufnagle

Franklin "Frank/Butch" Thomas Hufnagle, 72, of Howard, died peacefully at his farm in New Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. He was born in Danville, Pa., on Sept. 25, 1951, to Andrew and Ruth Hufnagle, who preceded him in death.

Frank grew up in Danville and graduated in 1969 from Danville High School. He would continue his education at Penn State University and graduated with a business degree in 1986.

Frank was a hard worker all of his life and worked a myriad of jobs: FoxNap in Milton, Lee Carpets in Bloomsburg, Philco in Williamsport, a bookkeeper at Reeds Brothers in Clearfield, surveyors assistant at Hess and Fischer Engineering in Clearfield, ad representative for the weekly newspaper, The Centre Democrat, in Bellefonte and the Centre Daily Times in State College, bartender at Village Inn Pizza shop in State College, selling auto parts and building supplies for HW Raymond, Inc. in Lock Haven, technical support for CenturyLink, field representative for the Census Bureau and he was a volunteer for DCNR at Bald Eagle State Park.

On Feb. 22, 1975, he married his soulmate, Marty Rogers, at the Centre Grove Methodist Church in Hyde.

His joie de vivre was contagious. He held a brown belt in Aikido. He loved to go camping, fishing, hunting and riding his BMW motorcycle with his wife traveling all over the country.

Frank enjoyed practicing Tai Chi, Qigong, walking his Springer Spaniel named Graham Spaniel, and photography. He was a bibliophile, a competitive auction bidder, antique collector, master of the ukulele and harmonica, a music lover and a true renaissance man.

He didn't like watching sports but you could find him dancing the polka, waltz, swing, jitterbug, tap, modern and slow.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marty; a brother, Bob, and his wife, Maureen; four nieces, Amy, Sheena, Casey and Heather; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable contribution to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, PA SPCA, Centre County Food Bank, The Faith Centre in Bellefonte, American Heart Association or the Howard United Methodist Church.
