Richard L. "Chip" Auman, of Millheim, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at his home. He was 88. Born Sept. 8, 1935 in Millheim, Chip was a son of the late Lester W. and Bertha E. "Braucht" Auman.
He was a 1953 graduate of the East Penns Valley High School. After graduation, Chip entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Sub Tender aboard the U.S.S. Bushnell. Chip retired from Penn State University as an Electrician. As a lifelong resident of Millheim, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and roam the hills and banks of Elk Creek. He was very passionate about renewing the forest by planting new trees. He has left a legacy behind that will last for generations to come. He was a member of the Brush Valley New Life Church, the Millheim Fire Company and the American Legion Post # 433 in Millheim. Most of all, Chip loved his family and spending time with them was high on his priority list, especially at the monthly shrimp feeds.
