Janet S. "Poosie" Snyder, 77, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born on Nov. 13, 1946 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie (Ross) Smith.
On June 21, 1966 in Port Matilda, she married her beloved husband, James Snyder, who survives her at home after sharing 57 years of marriage together.
Janet was a 1964 graduate of Bald Eagle High School. She worked as a staff assistant for Penn State University for over 30 years until her retirement. After retiring from the college, she worked for Dr. Thomas Butler.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by their daughter, Tina Snyder Klinger, of Zion; two granddaughters, Zoie Klinger and Ashlee Kochk; and two great-grandchildren, Bowen and Locklyn Kochk. Also surviving is her furry companion, Scooter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters. She was the last of her generation.
Janet enjoyed dancing and gambling. She was also a talented seamstress, mending and sewing clothes for many friends and family members throughout the years.
Janet also looked forward to the trips that she would take to the beach, creating countless memories that will live on with her loved ones for years to come.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.
Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial and graveside services will immediately follow at Advent Cemetery in Milesburg.
