Ronald Richard ‘Ron’ Barton

Ron Barton, 88, passed away on June 6, in Pocomoke, Md.

He was born on June 2, 1936 to the late Dorothy Winner Duck and Harry Barton. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Philippa (Flip) VanGorder and husband Chuck, Rebecca (Becky) Barton Swinehart and Vicky Hill; a daughter-in-law Jaime Barton; brothers, Bob Barton (Betty) of Farrandsville and Harry Barton of Williamsport; a sister, Kathy Huyck, of Mill Hall and his former wife, Nancy Barton, of Lock Haven. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and his partner of the last 30 years, Barbara Eccard.

He was predeceased by his son, Rock; a grandson, Lee Barton; a brother, Gene Barton; a brother-in-law, Rick Huyck and his step-father Clair Duck.

He was an Army veteran. Ron spent his last 30+ years living on Deal Island, Md. in the Chesapeake Bay. He loved fishing and spending time with his family, feeding the birds and the many winters he and Barb spent in Stuart, Fla. as snowbirds. He was a carpenter and contractor by trade and built many houses in Clinton County before his move to Maryland, and a few on the island as well as his own there.

There will be no services and internment in Rest Haven will be private and at the convenience of the family.
