Lois D. Schultz, 98, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Juniper Village at Brookline Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in State College.
Born on May 1, 1926, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Harriet (Beaver) Dauberman.
On June 11, 1955, in Selinsgrove, she married William C. "Bill" Schultz.
Lois was a 1948 graduate of Cumberland Twp. High School and a 1948 graduate of Susquehanna University. She became a school teacher and taught English in the Bellefonte Area School District, retiring in 1982 after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte and a member of the United Methodist Women's Club.
As a child, she was a 4-H member, and was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. She was also a member of the PSEA, NEA and C.C.A.S.R. and the Women of the Moose in Bellefonte.
Lois sang with the Sweet Adelines Woman's Barber Shop Chorus in State College.
Lois was active in scouting when her children were younger. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and helped tremendously with Boy Scout Troop 36. She also helped out with the Girl Scouts and chaperoned at summer camp.
Lois was always busy with a variety of crafts and took great pleasure in knowing that she passed down to her children the art of folding German Paper Stars which are part of her German heritage.
Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband, both throughout the United States and abroad. She looked forward to the long car rides with Bill and later with her children. She never knew where they would end up but was always ready to go.
Lois touched a lot of lives throughout her life, especially teaching, and has kept in touch with a lot of her students over the years.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family and the strong love they have for one another. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She LOVED to spend time with them and would get the greatest smile when one walked in the room. She wanted to hear all about their lives.
Lois is survived by three children, Chriss A. Schultz and her husband, Harvey Wall, of Pleasant Gap, Cathy S. Gentzel and her husband, Paul, of Zion, and W. Charles "Chuck" Schultz, of Centre Hall; five grandchildren, Andrew Langford (Amber), Rhea Wall, Dmitry Wall, Alex Lomartire and Samantha Lomartire; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol D. Chidsey, of Parkville, Md.
Along with her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Lomartire.
Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at noon at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. The burial will be private at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard St., Bellefonte, Pa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. in Snow Shoe, Pa.
