David "Pops" Watkins, Jr., 80, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at his residence.
Born April 1, 1944 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late David Watkins, Sr.
On July 2, 1962, he married the former Shirley J. Hoffman. She died Nov. 21, 2014. They celebrated 52 years of marriage together.
David worked at Penoco, Inc. of State College.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and Bingo. He was a member of the Castanea Fire Hall.
Surviving are six sons, David (Phoebe) Watkins, III, of Lock Haven, Joseph E. (Deborah) Watkins, of Loganton, Roy E. (Becky) Watkins, of McElhattan, Raymond W. (Kathy) Watkins, of Lock Haven, Samuel D. (Joan) Watkins, of Roaring Branch, and William A. Watkins, of Georgetown, S.C.; a daughter, Mary J. (Terry) Johnson, also of Georgetown, S.C.; and a sister, Alice Lannen, of Otta, N.C. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father and three grandchildren, Roy, Jr., Andrew and William, Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall. Pastor Jay Berwick will officiate. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
