Helen W. Orndorf

Helen W. Orndorf, of Greenville, Del., passed from this life on Sept. 4, 2024, at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, Del.

Helen was born in Millheim, Pa., a daughter of Lawrence and Mable Weaver. She was a graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School and married her high school sweetheart, Mervin Orndorf on Sept. 25, 1952, who preceded her in death.

Helen retired as a seamstress, working for several sewing companies in Centre County during her working years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Millheim. Helen was the rock of the family, taking loving care of Mervin who was stricken with blindness in 1972. She was thankful for many friends and family who provided loving support and assisted in keeping her family thriving. She especially enjoyed time spent traveling with her sons and the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her retirement years. Her passing saddens us deeply and we are thankful for the many memories of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother that we can hold in our hearts.

Helen is survived by two sons, Steven D. Orndorf (Kimberly) of Allentown, Pa. and Kevin R. Orndorf (John Satir) of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two grandchildren, Lindsey Mudd (Tim) of Downingtown, Pa. and Jenna Orndorf of New York City, N.Y. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Michael and Owen Mudd and her sister, Marilyn Dutrow of Centre Hall, Pa.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim on Sept. 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Teresa Hockenberry officiating. Contributions in memory of Helen may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, POB 437, Millheim, PA 16854.
