Herbert Paul Ramsey passed away on Sept. 23 at the age of 94. He was born Sept. 4, 1930 in Allegheny County Pa. to Victor Paul Ramsey and Sarah Elva Ramsey (nee Catherwood).
Herb taught agricultural sciences at Bald Eagle-Nittany High School, where he was the FFA advisor. He built two houses for his family in Beech Creek, and countless more for others. Herb is remembered as an avid pitmaster, barbecuing for hundreds at a time. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired to Florida in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eugene, Donald and Russel Ramsey; his former wives, Gwendolyn Miles Ramsey (mother of his children) and Joan Ramsey (nee Hayfield); his daughter, Lisa Robbins and by his stepson Thomas Hayfield.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol Passick, Pauline Chatterton, Deanna Liegey and Sandra (Art) Baker; and his step children, Jeffery (Jean) Hayfield, George Hayfield and Kathryn Hayfield.
Herb had 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
There will be a remembrance held Sept. 25 from 2-4 p.m. at the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church at 111 Main St., Mill Hall, PA.
