Richard L. Houser, Sr., 93, of Mill Hall, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024 at Geisinger, Jersey Shore.
Born March 31, 1931 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Raymond Rogers and Gladys Houser.
On Jan. 7, 1950, he married his love, the former Alva L. Fravel, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage before her passing on Jan. 2, 2020.
Richard was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Constone, retiring at the age of 85.
Surviving are his children Vickie L. Cross (Ron Laubscher), of Avis, Richard L. (Trudy) Houser, Jr., of Mill Hall, Thomas E. (Karen) Houser, of Mill Hall, Harry S. (Pam) Houser, of Mill Hall and Betty A. (Douglas) Lamey, of Flemington; a brother, Lyle Taylor, of Lock Haven; three sisters, Grace Smead, of Bellefonte, Mary Confer, of Milesburg, and Shirley Klinger, of Bellefonte; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alva Houser, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Barry Taylor and Glenn Frank; a great granddaughter, Riley Houser; and a step-grandson, Randy Laubscher.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Private interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
