John W. Lachat, Jr., 78, of Lock Haven, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living.
Born Sept. 3, 1946 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late John W., Sr. and Betty Walker Lachat.
John was a 1965 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
He was employed at Woolrich Woolen Mills for 12 years before working at the Lock Haven Silk Mill for three years. John then spent his last 24 1/2 years of employment at Champion Auto Parts until his retirement in 1998.
John loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He cared for all animals, especially his dogs. John enjoyed hosting family dinners and gatherings and was always looking to socialize. He was also a very caring and loving brother to his sister, Barbara.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Sarah Garman, of Lock Haven; a daughter, Tammy Bishop, of Johnstown; two sisters, Barbara Nihart, of Clintondale, and Linda (Robert) Whitsel, of McElhattan; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at 12 p.m., at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa., with Pastor Jack Hocker officiating.
Private burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received for a time of viewing on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
