Mary J. Oswalt, 62, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024.
Born on April 8, 1962, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Hassinger and Alma D. (Barner) Berens, and stepmother, Nancy E. Hassinger, who survives at home.
On Sept. 6, 1996, she married her beloved husband, Ronald L. Oswalt, who survives at home after sharing 28 years of marriage together.
Mary was a 1980 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked at Rite Aid as a Certified Pharmacy Technician for over 20 years before she took a position at Penn State Pollock Dining Commons.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, and stepmother, Nancy, she is survived by her two children, Matthew T. Krape (Tina) and Heather M. Dobo (Todd); and five grandchildren, Keagan, Karter, Treiton, Landen and Elara.
Also surviving are her eight siblings, Jane Tibbens (Den), Rich Robinson, Steve Hassinger, Bruce Wenrick, Don Hassinger, Lorna Harvey (Denny), Teresa Bartholonew (Jeff) and Kevin Wenrick (Brenda); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Charles and Alma, she was predeceased by her brothers, Timothy S. Hassinger, Charles H. Hassinger, Jr. and Wayne Mann; and a sister-in-law, Violet Hassinger.
Mary was a member of the VFW Post #1600 in Bellefonte.
She enjoyed crocheting and fishing in her spare time. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her entire world, and she was always their loudest cheerleader!
Loved by all who knew her, she leaves behind countless memories that her friends and loved ones will cherish for years to come.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
