Brian P. Gates, 54, of Howard, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
He was born Nov. 24, 1969, in Bellefonte, a son of Barry E. and Mary E. (McCartney) Gates.
Brian was married on Sept. 10, 1994, to the former Heather S. Berube, who survives. They celebrated 30 years of marriage together.
He worked 17 years at Graymont, Inc., in Pleasant Gap, and also enjoyed working in the woods with friends and family.
Brian was a 1988 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School, wrestling all throughout his high school career.
He enjoyed camping with his family and friends and was an avid hunter, spending many hours with his children hunting over the years.
Brian loved spending time with his family playing cards, backyard football and wiffle ball.
He was a member of the Howard Christian Church, attending various events over the years with his children and friends, always bringing a laugh wherever he went.
Surviving are his wife and his mother, both of Howard; his son, Joseph B. (Bridget Lutz) Gates, of Howard; and three daughters, Sara M. (Derek Thomas) Reish, of Hawk Run, Emily K. (Kaelyn Davis) Gates, of Howard, and Sarah Mae (Andrew) Rogstad, of Pensacola, Fla.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Aria Mae (10), Linkin (5), Landon (5), Owen (3) and Elijah (1).
Also surviving are his two sisters, Heather Williard and Rebecca Stiles; and several nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Benjamin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at Howard Christian Church, 367 Walnut St., Howard, with Pastor Don Crane officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.
Helt Funeral Chapel in Mill Hall has charge of the arrangements.
