Sister Sandra Grieco, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Oct. 26, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa.
Born on May 26, 1949, in Lock Haven, Pa., given the name Sandra Mae, Sister Sandra was the daughter of the late Paul and Irene Schrack Grieco.
She entered the IHM Congregation on Aug. 29, 1971, and made final profession of her vows on July 31, 1977. Sister Sandra received a Bachelor of Science degree in business, and a Master of Arts degree in secondary counseling, both from Marywood College.
Sister Sandra served as a physical education teacher at Seton Catholic High School and at Bishop Hoban High School, both in Pa.
Sister served as guidance counselor at Bishop Hoban High School, Holy Cross High School and Bishop Hafey High School. She also served as a counselor and academic advisor at Neumann College in Aston, Pa.
Sister Sandra also served at St. Mark's High School in Wilmington, Del., and was the pastoral care coordinator at Saint Joseph's Center in Scranton, Pa.
Sister Sandra was a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton.
Sister Sandra is survived by two brothers, Robert (Linda), of Lock Haven, Pa., and Richard (Theresa) of Pearl River, La.; along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved friend, Sister Redempta Sweeney, IHM, and all the members of the IHM congregation.
Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 3-4:30 p.m., at Our Lady of Peace Residence. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
The funeral will be Monday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 1510 University Avenue in Dunmore, Pa.
Interment will follow Mass on Monday at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
