Thomas Raymond Walker, 80, a resident of Smith Healthcare in Mountain Top, Pa. for the past 2 years, died early Wednesday morning Oct. 30, 2024.
Born in Wingate, Pa. on Nov. 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Edward T. and Bernice (Broadbent) Walker.
Following graduation from Bald Eagle Area High School in 1961, Thomas enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam War on the USS WASP. After serving 11 years in the Navy, he enrolled at the University of Toledo where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmaceutical science. Along with that new training, he then enrolled in the Army and was employed as a pharmacist for 9 years, eventually retiring as a Captain after 20 years of service.
Thomas loved golfing and was a member at the Rock Creek Country Club in Jacksonville, N.C. He enjoyed coin collecting, wood working, playing cards, fishing and traveling as well as hunting on the family farm. He will be remembered by his family and many friends for always being in a good mood and for sharing his wonderful sense of humor.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents were his brothers Edward John Walker and Arthur Dale Walker.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, the former Pearl Mae Lear; daughter, Donna Lee Spiller of Charleston S.C.; daughter, Tammy Marie Cunningham and her husband Raymond of Columbia, S.C.; son, Timothy Raymond Walker and his wife Rhea of Greenville, S.C.; son, James Arthur Walker and his wife, Deborah Lee of Drums, Pa.; son, Todd Edward Walker of Whitney, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers Richard A. Walker of Wingate, Pa. and James E. Walker and his wife Judy also of Wingate, Pa.; along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
