It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Audrey L. (Merryman) Shadle, 78, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many was reunited with her loved ones on Dec. 12, 2024. Audrey was born May 4, 1946, in Millheim, Pa., daughter of the late Neil Merryman and Shirley (Sinclair) Merryman.
She is a 1964 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Audrey married the late Rollie M. Shadle, Sr. on Dec. 10, 1964. The two were each other's lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with five children.
Audrey worked as a custodian for Keystone Central School District for many years following her retirement in 2007. Audrey was known for her spitfire personality and a heart of gold. When she had something to say, she wasn't afraid to say it and would also add in her favorite saying "how bout it" after telling you. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and was always famous for her peanut butter and pumpkin pies.
She will always be remembered for how clean her house was. Holidays were her favorite to be with friends and family. She was the glue that held our family together, always there to support and connect us all. Audrey's passion was being a mother and a grandmother.
Survived by her devoted daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) K. Shadle-Stephens, her loud, happy-go-lucky daughter Bobbie Jo-Buck (Randy) Shadle and Jody (Steve) Meredith. Audrey also leaves behind her grandchildren, Denae (Cameron) Pearsall, Cody Shadle, Ryan (Kalina) Meredith, Felicia Meredith, Carson (CJ) Karichner, Haley (Christian) Loomis and 10 great-grandchildren and many adopted children and family.
She will be deeply missed by her cherished granddaughter, Talya Pettingill, and great grandsons, Tanner Pettingill and Carter Pettingill, in which is an unspoken bond.
She also leaves behind her two brothers, Lee (Ruth) Garbrick and John (Nina) Garbrick; a sister in-law, Marie (Butch) Bowmaster; and brother-in-law Glenn (Nancy) Shadle.
Audrey was reunited with her parents; husband; two sons, Rollie and Danny Shadle; three grandsons, Steven Jr., Shawn Meredith and Caleb Pettingill and beloved sister/best friend Cathy Bennett.
In loving memory of Audrey (Merryman) Shadle, we invite friends and family to celebrate Audrey's life and legacy on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024 from 1-5 p.m. at Wayne Township Fire Co, 317 Linnwood Dr, McElhattan, PA 17748. The family asks to dress casual, bring a covered dish and to share memories.
