Carol H Armstrong, 81, of Nippenose Valley, Pa., passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2024.

Carol was born on Aug. 29, 1943, in Jersey Shore. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Winifred Hallow, who came to Nippenose Valley from Indiana County, Pa. She was a graduate of the Jersey Shore High School Class of 1961. In high school, she was proud to be a majorette.

She was predeceased by her husband, James S. Armstrong, and her siblings ,Dave Hallow, Alice Ann Simon and Charles Hallow, III.

Carol is survived by her son, Lester L. Greevy, III and his wife Tricia, and her daughter, Julieanne E. Steinbacher and her husband Donald. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cortney Jane Steinbacher, Abigayle Greevy, Stephanie Steinbacher, Donald Steinbacher, Jr and Alexa Rae Greevy. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Bebe Gaines and sister-in-law, Ruthann Hallow; step children, Jimmy and his wife Patty, Millie and Margaret; and step-grandchildren, Tyler, Katherine and Ashley.

Carol was the first woman elected as the Lycoming County Democratic Chairperson and served multiple terms. She worked at Sylvania and for the Pennsylvania Auditor General. She also was the office manager at James S. Armstrong Associates. Later she worked for Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak helping with events and seminars.

Carol always looked spiffy. She valued etiquette and bestowed on all her grandchildren a love of music, classical movies, manners and an ability to play without making dust. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She valued education and was so happy to see each of them graduate from high school, go onto college and prosper in their careers.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to so many that helped care for her: Dr. Lyne and Jody Huling CRNP, as well as so many at Nippenose Valley Village who made her days enjoyable: Mel, Virla, Rebecca, Tonya and Lisa. All of your continued care made her last year as best possible.

The viewing will be held at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 and the funeral will be Friday, Dec. 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S. Howard St., South Williamsport. A luncheon will be served after the burial at Nippenose Valley Village.
