Harry J. Sweitzer, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Olney, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
Born on Feb. 4, 1941, to Thelma and Clarence (Pete) Sweitzer, Harry grew up in Lock Haven, Pa., with his siblings, Charlie, Donald (Deety), Faith (Sis), Patricia, Lee and Thomas (Doc).
After earning a teaching degree from Lock Haven University, Harry moved to Maryland to begin his career as an educator.
On July 13, 1968, he married Dolores J. Parke. Together, they raised three children, Todd, Tracy and Ryan.
Harry's generosity, sense of humor and youthful spirit endeared him to all who knew him. He never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went. His open heart and infectious laughter brightened the lives of many.
Harry is survived by his wife, Dolores; their children, Todd (Tricia), Tracy Gervasio (Jeff) and Ryan; and his cherished grandchildren, Bowen Sweitzer and Colin and Claire Gervasio.
Harry's grandson, Noah Sweitzer, who preceded him in death, is remembered with love.
A graveside interment will take place at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, followed by a Celebration of Harry's Life at Haywood's in Mill Hall from 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2024.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who will forever cherish the love and joy he brought into their lives.
