Mark E. Shuey

Mark E. Shuey, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024. Born on April 1, 1934, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Philip Benner Shuey and Anna Elizabeth (Williams) Shuey. On July 24, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Janet (Close) Shuey, who survives at Juniper Village after sharing 60 years of marriage together.

Mark was a 1952 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and went on to attend classes at Penn State University. He spent much of his professional career as the Executive Vice President at Clasters, until his retirement. Post-retirement, Mark was a self-employed real estate appraiser in the Bellefonte Area.

In addition to his wife, Janet, his spirit and infectious laugh will be carried on by his niece MaryAnn Reddecliff Cohen (Dr. Larry Cohen), and nephew John Reddecliff (Susan) and their son Jack. Also surviving are numerous extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide array of friends.

Mark was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed hunting, boating and birdwatching. Whether it was a snowy deer stand in December, the lush hills of Happy Valley or the kitchen at Christmas time, you could always count on Mark to light up the room with a smile or laugh.

Mark's devotion to his family was beyond fierce, unrivaled and unparalleled. His daily devotion to Janet was nothing short of a storybook. He was present and loving to John and MaryAnn for the entirety of his time with them and their family. Mark set the standard for devotion and his spirit will be cherished by all who knew him forever.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, from 10:30 11:30 a.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte.
