Ona Ruth Weimer, 95, formerly of Woolrich, Pa., passed away on Dec. 15, 2024, in Carlisle, Pa.
Ona Ruth was born in Woolrich, Pa., to G. Cecil Weimer and Fay Fling on June 12, 1929.
She attended high school in Lock Haven, Pa. She went on to earn a master's degree in music with a concentration in choral conducting.
Ona Ruth held numerous positions throughout her life including college professor, choir director, church organist and Woolrich fabric associate. Her passion in life was music and she enjoyed playing at every opportunity including Sundays at church, the occasional wedding and as Lock Haven University's carillon instructor.
She supported numerous national charities and several local Humane Societies.
Ona Ruth is survived by her nieces, Malini Singer and Stephanie Weimer; and her nephew, George C. Weimer, III; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother, George C. Weimer, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, on Dec. 28, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Taylor Camerer officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to either Great Island Presbyterian Church in Lock Haven, where she served as the organist for several years, or Woolrich Community United Methodist Church in Woolrich, where her father served as minister.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the following organizations and their caring staffs for assisting Ona Ruth in her final years: The Bridges at Bent Creek, Church of God Home and Homeland Hospice.
