Abigail (Abby) Rae Hurst

Abigail (Abby) Rae Hurst, 3, of Lititz, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. While Abby was born with a rare genetic brain disorder called Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia (PCH), her family takes joy in God's sovereign grace, resting in the peace of assurance that she is now made whole, and they will one day be reunited for eternity in Heaven.

Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of Zachary T. and Rachel R. (Shortes) Hurst.

Though Abby's time on earth was short, her joyful personality touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was the happiest girl, with an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up any room. She loved listening to music, especially bluegrass gospel, and cherished her beloved Berenstain Bears. She adored her little sister, Joanna, and her puppy, Tilly, and found great joy in being outdoors-- riding on her bike and going on walks were among her favorite activities.

She is survived by her parents; her sister, Joanna Hurst; paternal grandparents, Elvin and Carol (Haller) Hurst; maternal grandparents, David and Dawn (Keen) Shortes; paternal great-grandmother, Irene (Boll) Haller; maternal great-grandfather, Glenn A. Keen, Sr.; aunts and uncles, Brian and Erin (Wolfe) Shortes, Becky (Shortes) and Justin Ream, Amy (Shortes) and Jason Grier; and her cousins, Riley, Mason, Jacob, Logan and Emma.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Abby's name to the Clinic for Special Children, attn: Development, P.O. Box 500, Intercourse, PA 17534 or online at: clinicforspecialchildren.org
