Jack S. Orndorf, 88, of Howard, passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.
Born Sept. 25, 1936 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Ralph and Ella (Bowmaster) Orndorf Walizer and Stanley Walizer.
Jack was married to the former Eva I. Streck on Jan. 26, 1961 in Richmond, Va. The pair would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in just over two weeks.
He worked as a police officer for the State College Police Dept. for 28 years, a job that he was extremely proud of. Jack retired in 1995, with the rank of Lt.
He was a member of the Flemington First Church of Christ for over three decades. He was also a member of the Beech Creek American Legion and the Retired Police Officer's Assn. He served in the Army (1954-1957) as a MP, a time which he enjoyed telling stories about to his family.
Jack was a 1976 graduate of Penn State University where he studied criminal justice.
Jack enjoyed genealogy, camping, traveling and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Larry (Laura) Orndorf, of Lock Haven; two daughters, Kelly (Scott) Williams, of Pleasant Gap, and Jodi (John) Thompson, of State College; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Fenton, of Lock Haven.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Orndorf; two brothers, Domer and Raymond; and three sisters, Sally Fryer, Jeanette Eck and Vivian Young.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, with Pastor Mark Riley officiating.
Friends and relatives will be received one-hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be private at Schenck's Cemetery.
